In most cases youll divide the smaller number by the larger number. Convert the percentage into a decimal. In other words you can translate any percentage into a decimal by dividing by 100.
For example if you want to calculate 20 of 500 multiply 20 by 500.
So using the prior example you would multiply 03 by 150 to get 45 and multiply 25 by 200 to get 50. A percentage is essentially a fraction with a denominator of 100. Add or subtract a percentage from a number or solve the equations. Multiplying the result by 100 will yield the solution in percent rather than decimal form.
