There are only a handful of formulas you can use but its enough to get totals counts round numbers etc. Click the blank cell you want to show the calculated result then click layout Formula. To insert table formulas in Word click into the table cell where you want to show the answer to the formula.

Click on the Insert tab and then click on Table. Click in a cell that should contain the sum of the rows. To view all the formulas in the entire table first click into the table. On the Layout tab under Table Tools click Formula.
