The Slope Formula In this lesson students are given the coordinates of two points and are asked to find the slope of the line that passes through the points without graphing. Plug the given values into the formula for a slope. The change in y-coordinates determines the rise and the change in x-coordinates determines the run.
Set up the slope formula.
Find the slope of the line that goes through the two points that are given to you. Equation from 2 points using Slope Intercept Form. The slope formula will allow us to take the change in the rise and divide by the change in the run. We will use the formula to calculate the slope of the line passing through the points 38 and -2 10.
